Thank you for all of your questions via e-mail and social media. Connecting with our audience is one of our favourite things to do. In the interests of being as helpful as possible you can find answers to all the questions we’re most frequently asked below.
What Tarot cards are you using on Simply Tarot?
We use The Tarot House Deck and many of you will be seeing this deck for the very first time. How do we know? Because we lovingly crafted this deck ourselves!
You can find out more about it here.
We can proudly state that our deck is being used in all four corners of the world and hundreds of people are already learning Tarot with them. That’s an amazing feeling for us and such an achievement for a pretty normal, down to earth Mother and Daughter team.
We think it’s the perfect first deck for someone tentatively taking their first steps into Tarot. If you’d like to buy them (they make a fantastic gift!) you can do so here.
Can I use your Tarot card images or tarot card meanings and information on my own website?
With regards to website content – No, unfortunately not. If we allow our content to be duplicated elsewhere online it will negatively affect how Simply Tarot gets displayed in search results, which we’d like to avoid.
For Tarot card and spread images – From time to time we may consider providing licences for third parties to use our Tarot images but prior permission must be granted based on agreed terms and conditions. If you would like to talk about using our images on your website or in promotional literature please contact me via e-mail at patricia@simplytarot.com
What’s your background in Tarot?
You can find out about how we have got to this stage on our About Simply Tarot page. Jenny has almost twenty years of tarot reading experience and is also a qualified Reiki practitioner. Patricia has just over ten years of working with Tarot and has achieved a Diploma in Tarot.
Is it ethically right to generate an income through Tarot?
Lots of people will have very different takes on this and it is good to respect other people’s opinions.
It’s our opinion, though, that if you are a genuine reader and you are meaningfully helping people in your work, your customers are being treated fairly and are happy to pay for the service they are getting, then it’s straightforward business – everyone has to make a living and if your talent is Tarot then why not? As long as everyone is happy and there is no taking advantage of those who are vulnerable, then it’s a fair exchange.
For us, the ethical issues around selling Tarot card readings is that customers
- find it difficult to meet Tarot readers they can connect with and potentially build a relationship with
- won’t necessarily know what to expect of a Tarot reading
- have no guarantees of or measures of quality for the reading they receive
- no meaningful price comparisons to make
- no independent person to approach if they want to complain or ask for a refund
In this day and age, Tarot reading customers deserve as much transparency in their purchase as customers buying any other kind of product. That’s just one of the many reasons why we’re creating the Simply Tarot Marketplace.
The Simply Tarot Marketplace will be designed to improve the process of buying and selling quality readings online. We hope that in turn, this will see an overall improvement in the way readings are sold across the industry.
How can I start reading Tarot professionally?
Assuming you already know how to read Tarot for others, there’s an awful lot you can do to set-up and market yourself online and in your local area to find customers. Ultimately, word of mouth will become the cornerstone of your business. There’s plenty of people who have done so very successfully.
For most people, though, setting up a Tarot business is just like setting up any other small or home run business. It’s hard work, potentially long hours, there’s money to outlay before you see a return and the buck always stops with you. However if you can make it work, it’s fantastic. You get to do what you love for a living, meet and build relationships with people all over the world and plan your work around your own life and family. It can be relatively easy to find places to Read online and, of course, there are many companies that sell cheap and effective software with which you can build your own website, to get started.
Do you work with other brands for sponsored posts and campaigns?
To some extent, yes, that’s another part of successful business. We’re only happy to promote brands and products that we believe in, that complement what we do, or we feel is relevant to those visiting our website.
Can I email you?
Yes! No problem. If it’s Tarot related please contact patricia@simplytarot.com
